About Charles Rollins.

Standing up to the government.

“I went to law school to learn how to fight the government.”

That purpose has shaped Charles’s career. He began in private practice, handling street crime cases and commercial litigation. He built his experience in the courtroom, trying criminal cases to verdict and representing clients in state and federal courts.

His practice grew to include healthcare fraud defense, bank fraud defense, and compliance work. Those matters demanded an understanding of both the government’s allegations and the financial records, business decisions, and regulatory obligations behind them.

A national white collar defense practice.

Charles maintains office space in Atlanta, where he routinely meets with clients. He regularly travels and works in Boston and throughout New England, as well as Chicago, Tennessee, Alabama, North Carolina, and other locations as matters require.

His admissions in Georgia and North Carolina, together with his federal court admissions, support a practice that extends well beyond his Augusta home base. Outside his corporate general counsel role, he now accepts almost exclusively white collar matters, with select commercial litigation engagements.

His experience includes complex bank fraud cases, healthcare fraud defense, federal conspiracy cases, RICO allegations, and cases involving the prescribing of controlled substances. He has extensive experience handling large volumes of electronic discovery and working through the financial records, communications, and transactions at the center of complex investigations.

His practice also includes professional license defense and collateral and parallel proceedings—the related civil, regulatory, and licensing matters that may accompany a criminal investigation. He approaches these connected matters with attention to both the criminal case and the consequences for a client’s career, business, and livelihood.

Understanding the business behind the case.

Charles’s work in fraud defense and compliance led to corporate general counsel work and select commercial litigation. That experience gives him a practical understanding of how businesses operate, how decisions are made, and how legal problems can affect an entire organization.

Before law school, Charles had already built a career in media and business, including work with local business owners as an account executive at WJBF-TV. He has run his own businesses and brings extensive media experience from both inside and outside the industry. He has extensive experience consulting with experts and analyzing complex financial arrangements. He brings that experience to the financial records, transactions, and expert opinions at the center of fraud and compliance matters.

Charles worked in construction immediately after college. His experience spans both the construction business and its legal affairs, including contracts, OSHA and other regulatory compliance, local zoning matters, insurance, finance, environmental controls, and risk management. He understands how those concerns intersect with the practical demands of running a business.

He places particular importance on careful research, clear writing, and helping clients understand the decisions they face. His approach is grounded in respect for the client and the family living through the case.

Saturn Strategy.

Some situations do not fit neatly into a single discipline. Through Saturn Strategy, Charles works where business decisions, public attention, and competing interests meet. Media is often part of the assignment. Sometimes it is only the visible part. The circumstances determine who needs to be at the table.

Long before law school, Charles was running businesses and learning how stories take shape—and how decisions are made before a story ever becomes public. His extensive media experience, inside and outside the industry, informs work that is often best understood by the people involved. Closer to home, that experience has helped businesses find a way forward when the options appeared exhausted, through business judgment and carefully managed communications. During the pandemic, Charles guided many local businesses through federal COVID-relief programs, all without charge.

At home in Augusta. Connected nationwide.

Charles’s roots are in Augusta, but geography does little to limit his practice. Phone calls, video conferences, shared digital workspaces, and regular travel keep him closely connected to clients and colleagues across the country. He can work wherever a matter takes him while enjoying the privilege of living in the beautiful community his family calls home.

Augusta has been home since 1997. A graduate of Lakeside High School, Charles now lives here with his wife, Robin, and their two children, who attend Augusta Prep. Robin is a special needs teacher in Richmond County. Charles is very involved at the Church of the Good Shepherd, and his civil rights work has included advocacy for children with disabilities. The relationships and rhythms of life here are an important part of who he is.
